The tsunami had a huge impact on the ocean and life under the sea. The large waves from the tsunami that destroyed communities and buildings eventually came back to the ocean and brought along untold objects such as pieces of buildings, cars, trees, and garbage. The problem with this is that it makes the ocean polluted and dangerous. Also the sediment input destroyed many habitats and stirred up the ocean floor harming many under water creatures. Overall the tsunami has destroyed the oceans well being and will take a long time to recover.

Japan: High Levels of Radiation in Ocean Water Around the Nuclear Power Plant
Samples of seawater taken 360 yards off shore from Japan’s failed nuclear power plant is showing dangerous levels of radioactivity. It is 1,250 times the legal safety limit. Three workers at the plant were treated for burns after standing in radiation tainted water at the power plant. The unusually high rates of radiation found in the turbine room and now in the ocean have officials concerned that the water used in cooling the reactors is seeping into the ocean. This would bring a longer lasting and highly risky form of contamination. The ocean water outside the nuclear plant is dangerous. Just a half a liter of this water contains an equal amount of radiation that is the limit for an adult over a years time. Officials said the radiation would be diluted as it is carried out to sea.

Drifters Could Monitor Ocean Radiation From Japan
Marine Scientists are concerned with the amount of radiation coming from the nuclear plant. Radioactive debris from Japan could drift to the U.S. Coast in three years. Scientists want to deploy drifters to moniter radiationn and debris in the Ocean from Japan's plant. Currently there is no effective way to monitor the radiation, say researchers.
